The past few weeks have been occupied by summer upgrades. Playing with new technology always means that the network engineers spend nights at the office, days at the office, and sometimes weekends at the office.
One technology that has given us some really great new capabilities is Virtual Computing. During a client upgrade, we “suck” their old servers into virtual machines hosted on either one of their more powerful servers, or an Inspired Networks upgrade unit. We then build their new servers, migrate data and roles while keeping their network online during the day.
